Water System Information

Media exposure to water quality issues has risen considerably in the last few years. Atlantic Municipal Utilities (AMU) wants you to know that we are providing you with the highest quality water possible. AMU monitors the quality of your drinking water at the well, the treatment plant and distribution system. By monitoring water quality at each of these locations we can be sure that the water coming out of your faucet meets or exceeds the standards of Atlantic Municipal Utilities, the Iowa Department of Health, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

AMU takes pride in providing safe and reliable drinking water to our consumers. A combination of well-trained water plant operators, a high quality ground water supply (wells), a well-maintained treatment system and continuous testing and monitoring of our water indicates that you are safe when drinking Atlantic’s water.

AMU regularly monitors for the presence of over 100 chemicals and contaminants in our drinking water as required by State and Federal regulations. AMU is proud that our water meets or exceeds all guidelines and standards enforced by the Iowa Department of Health, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. In the future, we will continue to provide you with the best quality drinking water possible through treatment and prevention of contamination of our water.
