Atlantic Municipal Utilities is the electric and water service provider for Atlantic, Iowa. Application for municipal utility services must be filed at the AMU office located at 15 West Third St, Atlantic. The application must be signed by all adults or emancipated minors residing at the address to be served. A deposit shall be required at the time of application. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A valid photo ID is required.

Deposits: Deposits of not more than the highest actual or estimated usage in a twelve month period shall be required of new customers, and shall bear interest at 3% per annum. Deposits shall be returned when satisfactory payment habit is proven, or upon settlement of the customer’s final bill. AMU may waive the deposit if evidence of satisfactory credit is provided by a customer’s previous supplier of similar service.
